Gas range repairs, done properly
A gas range repair can involve the gas valve, regulator, burner orifices or the flexible connector behind the appliance. Those parts are regulated gas work in BC.
Waywest's TSBC gas licensing means the technician diagnosing an oven that will not light can also replace a gas valve, correct a leaking connector or install a proper shut-off valve, and test for leaks afterward.
Repair or replace?
Ovens and ranges usually justify repair: most failures are igniters, elements, sensors and switches with reasonable part costs. Replacement is worth considering when the control board fails on an older unit, the oven cavity or cooktop glass is badly damaged, or you are changing fuel types. Self-clean cycles and failures

Common questions
Why won't my gas oven heat up?
The most common cause is a weak oven igniter. A glow-bar igniter can still glow but not draw enough current to open the gas valve, so the oven never lights. Other causes include a failed gas valve, temperature sensor or control board. Igniter replacement is a routine repair.
Why does my gas burner keep clicking?
Continuous clicking usually means moisture or food spill around the burner, a misaligned burner cap, or a faulty spark switch. Let a wet cooktop dry fully and reseat the caps. If clicking continues when dry, the switch or spark module needs replacement.
My oven temperature is off — can it be fixed?
Yes. Temperature problems are usually caused by a faulty temperature sensor, a weak element or igniter, or a control that needs calibration. Check with an oven thermometer first; many ovens allow a small temperature offset adjustment.
What should I do if I smell gas from my range?
Make sure all burners and the oven are off. If the smell is strong or does not clear, leave the home and call FortisBC at 1-800-663-9911 from outside. A faint smell right when a burner lights can be normal; a persistent smell is not.
