Brands we install and service
We are not tied to one manufacturer. We recommend equipment that suits the house, the budget and the rebates available — including Mitsubishi heat pumps and ductless systems, Rinnai tankless water heaters and Rheem heating and hot water equipment, among other quality brands. We service any brand, whoever installed it, and we carry common parts on the trucks.
Heating for the climate we actually have
Vancouver Island winters are long, grey and damp, but rarely very cold. That changes which equipment makes sense. Heat pumps work efficiently through almost every Island winter day, which is why they have become the default for new installations and for homes leaving oil, propane or electric baseboard behind. Summers are getting hotter too, and a heat pump provides cooling from the same equipment.
Gas still has a place. Homes on FortisBC natural gas often keep a high-efficiency furnace as backup in a dual-fuel system, and hydronic boilers remain the right choice for in-floor heat, radiators and many commercial buildings.

- Size it properly. Equipment is sized to the house, not to the unit that happened to be there before.
- Check rebates first. Eligibility is confirmed before you commit, so the numbers on the quote are real.
- Build the ductwork right. Custom duct fittings come from our own sheet metal shop.
- Permit the gas and boiler work. Waywest is TSBC licensed and pulls the permits the work requires.
- Keep it running. Maintenance plans keep warranties valid and catch problems before the first cold night.

What is the best heating system for a Vancouver Island home?
